After Macao’s return to the motherland, on the one hand, the economy has developed rapidly and the society has taken on a new look. On the other hand, the disparity between the rich and the poor has intensified, and social contradictions have increased day by day. The polarization phenomenon stemming from the imbalance of economic structure is very obvious. Fundamentally speaking, the rapid expansion of the gambling industry has fostered prosperity. However, the gambling industry has also squeezed the survival and development space of other industries, resulting in a serious imbalance in the economic structure.
Looking around the world, SMEs are crucial pillar of economic development. Analyzing the severe ecological environment faced by SMEs in Macao, that is, pay attention to the fate of other local enterprises in Macao and Macao itself. In view of the status quo, this research report focuses on the value of SMEs in Macao’s economic development, and combines actual research to analyze the main reasons that restrict the development of SMEs. On this basis, it calls on the Macao SAR Government and all sectors to support SMEs with additional attention.
